You are in a strange place, a city so exotic and undiscovered, that it makes you feel wanting to venture forth into the direction of that strange smell of unique culture that it hides. Amidst the chaotic ambience and seductive smell of exploration, you find yourself a recurring question that has been plaguing you since the start of your journey – “where do I eat?”
Obviously, you are a tourist who wants to go deeper into a new culture – one that’s filled with excitement, surprises and best of all – exotic food!
It doesn’t matter what you do there - business meeting, job hunting, vacation, all that matters is if you don’t try the local stuff in a certain place, it’s like you have still never been there. All you have to do is ask around.
Ask Someone
If you’re staying at a hotel or inn, ask the management for recommendations on where to eat. There might be some brochures, posters and flyers lying around that will also give you information and chances are there are other tourists there, and it would be great if you ask them where they had recently dined. Better yet, ask the locals! – Some of them are more knowledgeable than most tour guides.
The Internet
Are you too shy? Lets google search them! There are many sites on the web that caters to adventurous tourists like you. You can read about it in travel sites or a certain tourism website. Forums are where people read firsthand experiences of people who have been there and there are also various websites that contain restaurant reviews.
Do What the Locals do
Well, not everything they really do, just go to the places where the locals usually eat and you will be in for some unexpected but awesome food experiences – chances are the most unique and exotic cuisines are not found in top-class restaurants where tourists usually end up if they give up too early.
Just don’t get lost, maybe take someone to go with you – a good area would be around 10 -20 miles out of the city you’re visiting. If you hear live music and locak people are dancing – it would be a place for a good start. If you asking where to go for a good brunch in New Jersey, I guess you could search good restaurants in Central Jersey that offer Sunday brunch in Google. You could find the best business restaurant in Lawrenceville that would be perfect for a romantic evening. Some of the best places for a romantic dinner for two can be found where you least expect it – imagine Lady and the tramp eating spaghetti and meatballs on the alley.
